Mark is a native Bristolian who earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia. He went on to earn his law degree from Duke University, graduating in the top 10 percent of his class. Following graduation, Mark practiced law at large litigation firms in both Washington D.C. and Dallas, TX, eventually returning to the Tri-Cites area to open his own firm.

The Law Offices of Mark T. Hurt has seven locations, in both Virginia and Tennessee. Clients who come to Mark know they can count on him to aggressively advocate for them no matter what legal issues they are facing.

Mark has successfully represented hundreds of clients in his more than 25 years in practice. He is a well-respected litigator, with extensive experience trying cases in front of juries. He has also argued appeals in Virginia, Tennessee, and federal courts, and has had the privilege of arguing two cases before the United States Supreme Court.  He is a skilled negotiator, having reached settlements for clients ranging from minor personal injury cases for thousands of dollars all the way up to multimillion-dollar settlements for major cases.

Mark has represented clients in a variety of legal issues, including traffic tickets, CDL violations, reckless driving, speeding, car and vehicle accidents, personal injury, wrongful death, workers’ compensation, Social Security disability, whistleblowing, traffic tickets, CDL representation, reckless driving, speeding, and estate planning.

Mark lives in Abingdon, Virginia with his wife and family and enjoys playing tennis when he has the opportunity.
